Augmented Reality (AR) is a new technology that enables digital objects to be overlaid on-top of a camera’s viewfinder screen of a smartphone device such as Android or iPhone. Games like Pokemon Go propelled AR technology into the mainstream and more apps are being enabled to support AR interfaces. The advantages of AR technology include a heightened end-user experience while using the camera of their smartphone device for additional information to be overlaid that can be observed. Enhanced functionality is enabled such as the ability to interact with digital objects while the physical world is being observed through the camera.
